ZWO OAG-L M68 Off-Axis Guider: Precision Guiding for Advanced Astrophotography

The ZWO OAG-L M68 is a specialized off-axis guider designed to optimize guiding accuracy for medium to long focal length imaging systems, especially when paired with the ZWO ASI461 medium format camera and EFW 50mm square filter wheel. Its advanced features and compatibility make it an essential tool for serious astrophotographers.

Key Features:
Large Prism Size: The OAG-L boasts a 12x12mm prism, larger than the standard ZWO M68 OAG, providing a wider field of view for guiding.
Optimal for Long Focal Lengths: Especially effective for telescopes with long focal lengths, recommended to be used with a guiding camera with a large sensor, such as the ASI174MM Mini.

Technical Specifications:
Optical Thickness: 17.5mm, plus 5mm with the included tilt plate, totaling 22.5mm.
Effective Light-Passing Aperture: 11.7mm x 8.3mm, ideal for mini cameras.
Compatibility: Specifically designed for use with telescopes having a clear aperture of M48 or larger.
Construction: Includes an M48 sensor tilt plate for added versatility.

Advantages Over Traditional Guiding Methods:
Differential Flexure Elimination: Addresses the issue of differential flexure common with guiding scopes, ensuring the main and guiding telescopes move in unison.
Integrated Light Path: As part of the main telescope's optical train, it eliminates potential guiding errors due to separate movement of the guiding scope.

Product Details:
Compatibility: Native support for ZWO's APS-C and full-frame cooled cameras.
Additional Compatibility: Fits with ZWO EFW 2" filter wheel and specific cameras like ASI6200MM-P, ASI6200MC-P, ASI2400MC-P, and ASI2600MM-P & ASI2600MC-P.
Non-Compatibility: Not suitable for ZWO's M42 Filter Drawer and Pegasus Astro Indigo Electronic Filter Wheel.

Considerations Before Purchase:
Not Necessary for Smaller Sensors: The OAG-L is not required for 4/3" or smaller sensor cameras. The standard ZWO Off-Axis Guider may be a more suitable choice.
Configurations: See ZWO’s webpage "Best Solutions for 55mm Back Focus" for examples of imaging train setups.
The ZWO OAG-L M68 off-axis guider represents a leap in guiding precision and ease, perfect for astrophotographers looking to improve their imaging accuracy and reduce the weight and complexity of their setup.
