The Pentax XW-10 Eyepiece is designed to deliver premium optical performance across a wide range of astronomical and terrestrial viewing applications. Featuring a 70° apparent field of view combined with a generous 20mm eye relief, this eyepiece provides a wide, immersive viewing experience that remains comfortable even during long observing sessions. It is well suited for both eyeglass and non-eyeglass wearers.

High-Grade Optical Performance

The advanced optical system incorporates high-refraction, extra-low dispersion lanthanum glass elements, producing sharp, well-balanced images with minimal chromatic aberration. The design actively compensates for spherical aberration of the exit pupil, significantly reducing blackout and edge shading for a more stable and comfortable view.

Advanced Coatings for Maximum Light Transmission

All air-to-glass surfaces are treated with Pentax’s original multi-layer coatings, while bonded lens elements receive a specialised partial coating. This combination achieves light transmission exceeding 90%, with peak transmission reaching approximately 96% at 550nm, ensuring bright, high-contrast images across the visible spectrum.

Reduced Internal Reflections and Enhanced Contrast

Using Pentax’s computer-optimised optical design, a precisely positioned internal light-shielding diaphragm suppresses stray light and internal reflections. This results in darker backgrounds, improved contrast, and enhanced fine-detail visibility, particularly beneficial for lunar, planetary, and deep-sky observation.

The Pentax XW series is available in multiple focal lengths including 3.5mm, 5mm, 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, and 20mm, supporting a wide range of observing styles from high-magnification planetary work to wide-field deep-sky viewing.

Weather-Resistant and Universally Compatible

The Pentax XW-10 features JIS Class 4 weatherproof construction, allowing confident use in humid conditions, light drizzle, or heavy night dew. The eyepiece uses the American-standard 31.7mm (1.25") barrel for broad compatibility with Pentax spotting scopes and most astronomical telescopes. With the rotatable eyecup removed, an integrated 43mm adapter-mounting thread allows attachment of imaging accessories for projection and astrophotography applications.
